ANNAN RIVERSIDE WALK - 9.2.14

THE GROUP

Leader Clare writes -

I lead the group of nine, including 5 members, with Misty the dog, who welcomed our four guests; Morven, Paul, Jane and Allan. The walk was a figure of eight so we did the shortest loop first, as I thought the weather would be better in the morning and it meant we could leave our food and drinks in the cars.

Luckily it was a dry start, but when we got to the shore it was bitterly cold there.  We followed the river down through Newby and along the coastline to the start of the Annandale Way.

We returned to the car park where we were joined by another member Louise and her two friends for a coffee stop.  We set off again, but as Louise was having problems with her knee and the deep mud, she just pottered along with the other two and they turned round at Brydekirk. We had a horrible heavy sleet shower just before Hoddam which was foul, before having lunch in front of the Castle. We returned to Annan on the opposite side of the river and got back to our cars by 3.30; then it was off to the Solway Cafe for coffee and scones!
