Rivers & Fields

River and Fields’     Saturday,  9th March 2019

Attendance: 9       Weather conditions:   mainly bright and sunny

I should have called the walk ‘The Walk of Twists and Turns’.  Driving to Middleton, the weather couldn’t have been worse with hail and rain, but typical of English weather, blue skies appeared and stayed with us all day.

We walked along the Teesdale Way to Dinsdale and then by fields to the Church at Girsby. Crossing the Tees, we headed to High Sockburn and then to Neasham Hill Farm.  Entering Neasham, we stopped for tea and cake at Carol’s (a warm thanks).  Picking up the Teesdale Way again, we turned across the Tees at Hurworth heading to Eryholme Lane.  Through woods and fields passing Dalton on Tees, we then entered Croft again picking up the Teesdale Way.  We crossed under the A66 towards ‘Reynolds Folly’ then going towards Hurworth Moor and Firth Moor.  We crossed the A66 again at Morton Park heading back to Middleton by fields.

Thanks to the nine members who turned out and apologies for my usual mistake, yes it was 21 miles.
