Up With The Larks

Photo shot - dropping down into Swaledale

Saturday 3rd June - "Up With The Larks"

The day started with an altercation in Preston under Scar with the local ‘mayor’ or  ‘traffic warden’, but the 11 of us took pity and left him to commence our walk.

On leaving the village, we crossed the old quarry workings onto Redmire Moor, with heather bashing leading down into Grinton and then by the River Swale towards Low Row.

We then scaled the pathway onto Whiteside Moor, taking in the fantastic views and then heading towards Dent House.  From there we descended into Castle Bolton, crossing fields to Redmire and then back to the start.

The weather was very good throughout.  May I thank members from Nidderdale, North Yorkshire and Northumbria for joining us and also those who travelled long distances.
