Three Dales Circular

                  Alans Group of Happy Walkers

Three Dales Circular - Saturday 22nd April.

Eleven walkers started from Bankfoot.  From there it was straight up a steep hill on to the moor.  It was suggested that I could have picked an easier start
but we all made it to the top ok just as it started to rain.  From there it was down into Baysdale, along Baysdale then up again and over to Westerdale where we
had the first stop outside the village hall.

By then the rain had stopped and the sun came out.  We then crossed Westerdale (another down then up) and walked
along to above Castleton where we picked up the Esk Valley Way and headed to above Hob Hole.

Our second stop was just before the only bit of “heather bashing” followed by another up and down into Kildale.  It was then through Kildale, across the fields into Battersby village and back to Bankfoot.

Of the eleven that started nine completed the whole route while two cut the walk short for injury reasons.  At two occasions during the walk we came across a number of
groups of young people training for their D of E bronze award.  They were told all about the LDWA - perhaps some future new members?

Thanks to all for making it a good day out.

Alan.
