Important Notice Concerning Coronavirus -

Last reviewed on 25 July 2020: - Guidelines issued 19/6/2020 remain unchanged.

On 19/6/2020 The NEC issued new guidelines for walking during COVID 19 restrictions https://ldwa.org.uk/website/downloads/20200619_LDWA_Social_Walks_-_Covid_Guidance_5.pdf

The NEC guidelines, following Government policy only allow up to 6 members (primary members that is including the leader on a walk;)members would need to register prior to the walk; all travelling in separate cars (unless from same family group); carrying out social distancing during the walk, along with other requirements of the Guidelines, the onus will be on the Leader to see the guidelines are being implemented, before and during the walk.

The option to re-introduce social walking using the above Guidelines has been left to individual Groups to decide. Cleveland Committee has discussed this option and the committee decided that we would NOT reintroduce social walks due to the practicalities of the conditions given by the NEC

We know this will be disappointing to members, but hopefully it will not be too long before restrictions are eased further. The situation will be reviewed on a regular basis and members updated by newsletter, and website updates.

Cleveland Committee

Cleveland LDWA have been established for well over 40 years.  We are a friendly Group, we do a one social walk each month, sometimes two. We usually walk on  The Cleveland Hills, Yorkshire Moors & Dales, Durham Dales and occasionally The Lake District.  Our walks vary between 15-20+ miles, with plenty of ascent.

We ask that anyone who isn't a member, but would like to try our walks, after walking with us for a couple of times, join the LDWA.  We recommend, if you haven't walked with us before, give the walks leader a call to discuss the walk.

We do not allow dogs on our walks, which we appreciate is unfortunate for those dog owners who would like to walk with us. There are however a number of other local LDWA Groups who do allow dogs.

We have Group Meetings every second Wednesday every other month, at 8.00pm. We meet in The Bowls Committee Room, at The Thornaby Pavillion, Thornaby Town Centre. TS17 9EW.  Our meetings usually last about an hour, where we discuss our walks programme, past and future and any other LDWA matters. We do occasionally have a speaker.    Come along and join us.
