Bolebec Castle to Bolbeck Park

Bolebec Castle Whitchurch – Old Chapel at Creslow – morning break at Dunton Church – lunch stop at Mursley – North Bucks Way – ice creams at Bradwell Abbey – the concrete cows – Railway Walk – Bolbeck Park

After the Norman Conquest in 1066 William the Conqueror granted Whitchurch to Walter de Bolebec.  Bolebec Castle was built by Hugh de Bolebec in the 1140s.

In fact there is a direct link between Whitchurch and Norman’s house, as Hugh de Bolebec also held the Manor of Great Linford (we walked through the present parkland towards the end of the walk).

The theme for the street names in Bolbeck Park is the Norman Conquest (so it is very apt that our Norman lives there).

Roger of Montgomery commanded part of the Norman army at the Battle of Hastings – hence  Montgomery Crescent – where some of us enjoyed a welcome cuppa after the walk.

Thank you Norman for a very enjoyable walk on lovely day.
