A Milton Keynes Marathon

Event Details Updated
A few details that may help anyone who is thinking of coming along. The first thing to stress is that this is a led group walk. It won’t be a fast walk, but will be at a reasonable pace. It is unsupported, so you should bring food and drink for the day, although there are shops at 12, 13 and 23 miles (plus a café/ice cream van at 18 miles). Sorry, there are no toilets at the start but we will be setting off along an old railway line where there is some cover and within the first mile there are bushes alongside the canal bank. Things can only get better, and there will be toilets at 12¾ miles and 18 miles. Morning break is planned at 7½ miles, lunch break at 13½ miles and afternoon break at 20 miles. We can slot in a couple of mini breaks if needed, a lot depends on the weather on the day. All stops are in the open, although the lunch break can be slightly sooner under cover if the weather is not kind to us. There will be no pub stop I am afraid, that would be just too tempting and we would still have a long way to walk. We will be using some of the LDPs that pass through Milton Keynes – the Midshires Way, Swan’s Way, Ouse Valley Way and Grand Union Canal Walk. Please remember to bring along your LDWA number. If you would like any further information please let me know. Cheers gillbunker@googlemail.com
