South Lancashire Group Dissolved

Posted on 2015-05-19

The committee of South Lancashire have recently regrettably taken the decision to dissolve the group because ‘The number of active members has fallen to a level where we cannot sustain a walks programme or run our annual challenge walk (the Beacon Bash)’

You can read their full statement here: http://www.ldwa.org.uk/SouthLancs/N/3676/group-dissolved.html

The South Lancashire group covered those in the Wigan postal area and, at the time of closing the group, had 35 primary members and 96 associated members, all of whom have been contacted by the Membership Secretary either by e mail or letter.

Members for whom South Lancashire was their primary group have not been assigned an alternative group - it is their decision if they want a primary group at all, and, if yes, which group they wish to choose as their primary group.

New Joining members with a WN post code will be assigned to West Lancashire unless they choose otherwise.

The South Lancashire group has been in existence for 30 years. They have put on a number of Challenge Walks during this time including The Wigan Pier Walk, The Highwayman Hike, The Promised Land Walk, The Lancashire Plain Plod and of course The Beacon Bash.

The LDWA National Executive would like to put on record their thanks to everyone who has been involved in running South Lancashire group, their programme and events over the last 30 years.

Please note all future South Lancashire walks appearing in Strider are now cancelled.
