TWO CROSSES EVENT The 25th Annual Two Crosses event run by the East Lancashire Long Distance Walkers Association was a major success at the weekend. The January frost and snow had seen the race moved from its traditional early year date to March. Organisers had been worried that this change may have adversely hit the level of entrants. This proved unfounded as 219 people and several dogs set off from Tottington centre at 8.00am on Sunday March 21st. The event is so named as the course bypasses two pilgrim crosses, the first at Affetside and the second many weary miles later on Holcome Moor. Competitors have the choice of 18 or 25 mile routes which may be walked or run. Food and drink are available at checkpoints on the course and at the finish. Full details are available on www.ldwa.org.uk/eastlancashire March 20th 2011 will see the 26th staging of this popular event, write the date in your diary now! Thank you to Brian who has sent us his pictures of the event.
