Long Distance Paths
Interested in walking long distance footpaths? We’ve done the legwork for you to give you all the information you need. Our Long Distance Paths (LDPs) pages are a public service open to everyone - you don’t need to be an LDWA member to use it, though you need to be a member to use some facilities.
The Long Distance Paths pages bring you a one-stop shop with our online details for over 600 walking routes in the UK, helping you to select routes to walk and providing you contact points for many free leaflets with many online links to useful websites, and you can buy the guidebooks and maps online using our Amazon links for each item. Buying with these links gives you discounted prices and helps us provide you with this information service via the commission the LDWA receives.
The Long Distance Paths (LDPs) pages on this site provide:
- Background general information on the UK’s network of LDPs and how to walk them, with explanations about things like walkers’ maps and hints on visitor information
- Detailed information on each specific route with the publications and maps needed to walk them plus location maps, accessible via the Searchable Database
- For LDWA members, the Searchable Database provides many downloads of route descriptions and track logs for use with digital mapping software, especially useful for the routes not marked on Ordnance Survey maps.
