From Trehafod Community Village Hall, Ivor Street, Trehafod

A new challenge walk that explores the famous Rhondda Valleys of South Wales. This scenically beautiful route starts in Trehafod, and follows a clockwise circuit visiting Mynydd y Glyn, Mynydd Dinas, Mynydd William Meyrick, The Bwlch and Ferndale before returning to Trehafod via the iconic Tylorstown Tip. The route provides extensive views of the South Wales valleys and the Brecon Beacons to the north. The route will have approximately 5000ft of ascent and some of the route will use paths that The Valleys Hundred will be visiting in 2014.

General Notes
To access the event venue follow the A4058 from Pontypridd. 500 metres after leaving Hopkinstown, turn left over narrow bridge into Barry Sidings Countryside Park (signposted with small brown signs) where there will be ample parking available. The c.p. is at GR ST054908. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ELSEWHERE IN THE VILLAGE. Trehafod Community Village Hall is 600m from the c.p. Bus & Train services available. All entrants to bring a mug. SEF accepted or enter online. Organised by & chq payable to LDWA South Wales Group. The route description will be available for download from the South Wales LDWA website from March 2012. We regret that due to the fact that the Rhondda Hills are sheep country and because lambing will be well under way, dogs are not permitted on the event

Entry: £6.20 (non-LDWA £8.20); OTD all £10 incl substantial savoury food at the Ton Pentre lunchtime Cp, light snacks at the other manned checkpoints. A light meal will be provided at the finish
