Chesterfield Area Walking Festival

Sat 10th - Sun 18th May 2014

Walk Details:

Event Type
Walking Festival
Region
Southern England
Description
Enjoy the Chesterfield area on foot, taking a stroll around the pretty village of Scarcliffe, looking at archaeology on the Hardwick Estate or following in the footsteps of murderers and their victims around Chesterfield town.

Take in some history as you meander through the industrial heritage of the Area. Visit Hob Hurst’s House on your way to Chatsworth. Listen to birdsong around Creswell Crags on a walk especially designed for people with sight problems, start your walk with a bacon butty, or sit down to tea and cakes before you set out. Bring your dog along on the Waggy Wander, designed with man’s best friend in mind.

If you’re looking for a challenge, try the Chesterfield Round Walk, a 34 mile trek through the countryside that surrounds the town. Or brave the Beast of Bolsover on a 20 mile circular hike. If that sounds all too much, there are shorter walks too.

Most walks are free so there’s no excuse not to join us, and every excuse to have a pint at the end of several of them. All are led by a fully trained guide who knows the history, wildlife and the best countryside to walk through (as well as the best pubs to visit) in the beautiful Chesterfield landscape.
