The Yorkshire Coast Group is one of the many local groups around the country which are part of the Long Distance Walking Association, a national body, which aims to further the interests of those who enjoy challenging walking. See L.D.W.A.The Yorkshire Coast Group is based in and around Scarborough on the east coast of North Yorkshire. We have around 70 members from all walks of life and give a friendly welcome to anyone who would like to join us.
The Sunday walking programme runs throughout the year and there is also a Wednesday evening social walk programme. We also have a variety of social events over the year. See Future Events The walks cover the stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Moors and the surrounding coastal areas and vary in distance from 10 to 20 miles to encourage new walkers who will hopefully join more experienced members on longer walks.
The highlight of the year is our Smugglers' Trod 26/16 mile challenge walk which takes place every year on August Bank Holiday Saturday. It starts from Robin Hood's Bay and both routes cover challenging terrain through spectacular scenery.
So why not boot up and join us? Further details are available from the Club or Walks Secretaries.
