We are an informal, friendly, diverse group of friends who enjoy walking the spectacular countryside that Northern England provides.  We are extremely lucky to be based in such a beautiful part of the country, with the Lake District, The Forest of Bowland and North Lancashire,  the Yorkshire Dales and The Howgills all pretty much on our doorstep. 

We meet at least once a month for social walks.  These walks, although quite long (normally close to twenty miles), are taken at a sociable pace and we have good fun and banter along the way.  We strive to make all visitors and newcomers welcome to the group.  Take a look at future events to see what 's planned for the months ahead, and come along and join us. To join our group you need to be a member of the Long Distance Walker's Association, but if you are not sure  whether to join, come along as a visitor once or twice to see what you think of us.  We promise to make you welcome and look after you. We also run a couple of challenge events each year.  These are about 25 miles each and include checkpoints along the way for food and drinks and a meal at the end.  Have a look at the challenge walks we organise, or have a wider look at the challenge walks run by other LDWA groups.  There are plenty to choose from. If you don't fancy taking part, why not volunteer to help out on one of the checkpoints, we always appreciate a spare pair of hands.

Our flagship challenge events are That's Lyth and Spring in Lakeland, and due to popular demand we will also be repeating our popular; By Lake Ridge and Wainwright in 2012 . We are also hosting Spring into Old Hutton in April 2012

Weekends Away - we want you to have more say in where we get to - if you have an idea for a good weekend away contact a member of Committee now!  There is some interest in Going Continental for 2012 - hear more at the AGM!

And finally, if you want to get in touch with us, have a look at our Committee Members page to see who are the 'powerful' ones - well none of us really but if you want a chat you can always try our group secretary - she is very approachable, but only before 9pm please.
