ONE FOOT IN THE GARGRAVE
CHALLENGE EVENT
Saturday 7th September 2024

08.30am Start

A 23 mile walk/run from Gargrave Village Hall,
West Street, Gargrave, Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 3RD
in the picturesque setting of Malhamdale.
Grid ref: SD 931541.

The walk is to be completed in 9 hours.
There is a cut-off time at 3 pm at Checkpoint 3 (16.75miles). Anyone not through this Checkpoint will be asked to retire.
Entries will be restricted to the first 200 and will be closed when this maximum is reached.

The entry fee for LDWA members is £12, online only. Entries on the day for LDWA members is £17.
The entry fee for non LDWA members is £20, online only. Entries on the day for non LDWA members is £25.

Included are drinks and snacks supplied on the route and a hot meal (vegetarian option) at the finish.
Special dietary requirements catered for.

Please can you ensure that you bring your own mug for drinks.
We are trying to reduce plastic wastage, so no plastic cups will be available.
NO MUG - NO DRINK!

Please note dogs are allowed on the walk, under close control, but not inside the Village Hall.
Also please note it is the owner, not the Group, who is responsible for dogs.

Certificates will be given to all competitors who finish within the time limit of 9 hours (if option was ticked on entry form).

Hot meal or vegetarian option meal will be provided at the finish.

The Organisers decision in all matters concerning the organisation of the walk is final.

The Organisers cannot be held responsible for any injury or mishap during the event and retain the right to vary or alter the rules.
 
WALK RULES
  • Each competitor to be aged 18 years or over, unless accompanied by parent or legal guardian (Licensing Regulations).
  • All entrants must report to the walk H.Q. between 07:30 and 08:15 on the day of the walk.
  • Retire only at roadside checkpoints.
  • Entrants must observe the Country Code - failure to keep to designated footpaths may result in disqualification.
  • All walkers to carry a suitable map, compass, waterproof clothing and a mug.
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A route description will be available to all entrants. Competitors are advised to carry the following equipment:-
  • first aid kit
  • suitable footwear
  • emergency rations
  • waterproofs / warm change of clothing

The route is to be used in conjunction with map OS Explorer OL2 1:25.000 Yorkshire Dales Southern & Western areas. Information on accommodation and camping may be obtained from either Yorkshire Dales National Park, Skipton (01756) 792809 or the Information Centre, Grassington (01756) 753748.
