Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice Walks - 20th September 2009

Our event organised to support Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice proved to be very successful. We received 117 entries of which 36 completed the short 8 mile walk. We were blessed with perfect autumnal weather throughout the event and it seemed to have been thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We appear to have raised a magnificent £3500+ for the benefit of the Hospice - a figure which well exceeded our most optimistic expectations!

Thanks must go to all our sponsors without whose help the monies raised would have been eroded :- Keyhole Services of Armthorpe Doncaster for covering printing costs and providing souvenir mugs for all entrants. Rossington Parish Council for their cash donation.  Audrey and David Ashford for organising a super garden party which raised a substantial amount of finance. Cadbury PLC for donating a supply of Jelly Babies which were enjoyed by all. Anston Parish Hall, Woodsetts Cricket Club and Parkhiill Social Club, Firbeck who provided their facilities for checkpoints without charge. The Lord and Lady Scarbrough for allowing our walk to pass through the Sandbeck Estate which added an extra attraction to the event.

Thanks also go to all who supported us so well by manning checkpoints, providing food and drink (often homemade), organising the start venue etc. and sweeping the walk. With a special thank you to Jean Newbould who co-ordinated the whole event and at times was "stressed out" by the logistics of it all.

Finally a great big thank you to all the entants whose presence and additional sponsorship made this event such a success!
