Organisations of interest to walkers

Footpath Societies are concerned with preserving and improving the footpath network.

The Peak and Northern Footpaths Society is the oldest surviving footpath society in the UK, with over 100 years of experience and history to call upon on your behalf.

The Mid-Cheshire Footpath Society is a registered charity for those who are both interested in walking in the Cheshire countryside and in helping to look after and protect the Public Rights of Way.

Both these societies have regular walks programmes as well as carrying out vital footpath work.

LDWA Walks

The LDWA organises many challenge events and local group social walks, as well as listing many more organised by other organisations. Challenge events are normally between 20 and 100 miles and must generally be completed within a defined time limit. Social walks are normally led walks of around 20 miles.
