Bullock Smithy 2011
Congratulations to all South Manchester LDWA members - Ken Bentley, Karen Beswick, Stephen Blackshaw, Jo Carter, James Fairfield, Roger Hand, Carl Harris, Elaine Helme, Bob Kelly, Kevin Mather, Jerzy (George) Matuszewski, Andrea Steel, Chris Tarrant & Peter Whitehead - who ran, walked or crawled this year's Bullock Smithy Hike. First man back this year was James Scott-Buccleugh, who ran the course in a record-breaking 8 hours 46 minutes. Fastest lady was Philomena Smith on 12:23. Stockport Harriers won the team award, while Aquinas College student Sam Humphries was the first Hazel Grove scout home in 15:45. For full results, see the Bullock Smithy website.
Duncan, who helped staff the Whiteley Green checkpoint this year, managed to photograph some of our members on their way through. Unfortunately some, like Roger, passed at such high speed that their image didn't register on camera, while Carl's HV jacket caused the camera's exposure meter to curl up in horror! Jerzy is pictured back at Hazel Grove HQ.
