Walk for Jane

On 11th August last year, a lady called Jane Woods - a train manager based in Manchester - sadly lost her battle with cancer.  In her memory, her friend Anna Stimpson from Penkridge - a Birmingham train manager who herself has undergone anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction - has decided to walk the canals from Birmingham to Manchester, raising funds for Beechwood Cancer Care Centre in Stockport.

Several of Anna's friends will be accompanying her on the walk and she is keen for others to join her along the way.

On day four (Saturday 21st June), Anna will be walking from Stoke to Bosley Locks; on day five (Sunday 22nd), it's Bosley to Marple station; day 6 (Monday 23rd) is Marple-Manchester Piccadilly, the final leg.

LDWA Walks

The LDWA organises many challenge events and local group social walks, as well as listing many more organised by other organisations. Challenge events are normally between 20 and 100 miles and must generally be completed within a defined time limit. Social walks are normally led walks of around 20 miles.
