The Goyt Valley Challenge Sunday 4th October 2015

South Manchester LDWA will be holding a new challenge event - the Goyt Valley Challenge - on Sunday 4th October 2015. There will be two routes of 24.5 and 13 miles, to be completed in 10 hours from the Burbage Institute, Buxton (SK044729). 

The routes are attractive but challenging through the western Peak District including Solomon's Temple, Axe Edge, Goyt Valley, Shining Tor, Lamaload Reservoir, Kettleshulme, Taxal Moor and Fernilee on the long course. The route is mostly on FPs and tracks and includes some moorland sections with a total ascent of 4,000ft. The short course also goes via Solomon's Temple and Axe Edge to the Goyt Valley (Errwood Hall) and returns from Fernilee Dam to Buxton. The start for walkers will be at 8.00am and 9.00am for runners. Finish by 6pm.

Entry fee will  be £9.50 for LDWA and Scouts/Guides, and £12.00 to all others. No entry OTD. Entry fees are non-refundable. Entry information and forms will be available on South Manchester LDWA web-site. Closing date 27th September 2015. SAE not required if e-mail address given. Cheques payable to South Manchester LDWA. Entry includes full route description using easy-to-follow Wainwright-type maps, refreshments at checkpoints (one indoor) and a simple hot meal at finish. Certificates will be presented to all finishers. Entrants must carry/wear full waterproofs, compass, map and a mug.
