Welcome to the Lakeland group

Hello and a warm welcome to the Lakeland Group. We are a friendly group of Long Distance walkers who enjoy social walks as well as visiting challenge events and walk at a pleasant pace with walks that are long but not too crazy long! Given our location, we are often to be found on hills too. We love the Lakes but also walk in the Dales, Lancashire and Forest of Bowland and further afield for weekends away. We tackle Long Distance Footpaths in sections or as a short holiday too. We love exploring and welcome suggestions for new walks. Anyone who fancies leading should email lakeland@ldwa.org.uk with your ideas for a walk area. We have an exciting walks programme going forward. Future walks are posted on here and the next few are listed on this page. We also remind members via the bulk email system so make sure you are signed up to receive these via your national membership page if you would like to receive these. If we have to cancel at short notice we will always send a bulk email, and post on here so do double check. We also have a Wednesday group - walks on as many Wednesdays as we can organise, specifically with those in mind who want to walk long distance routes, or try out some hill walking, but in bite sized stages of no more than about 12 miles where we can manage it. Look out for these in the programme. Lakeland are working towards having more members attending the amazing challenge walks around the country. You will see events called 'Lakeland Does' in our programme from time to time. These are challenges we are trying to send a team along to. Feel free to join us - and enter those events early as they book up. We look forward to welcoming new members to a walk. If you are unsure about attending and want to know more about a walk, contact the walk leader or lakeland@ldwa.org.uk and we will try to give you plenty of information. Our pace is always to suit the slowest person on the day, whilst still getting round the miles, and we often find a pub or a tea shop at the end as we are a sociable group. We emphasise social for our social walks and challenge for the events! Basically, we will take care of new members. Your Committee are; Tom, Tony, Nicky, Ian, Robin, Lisa, Mark.
