Long Distance Walkers Association - Local Groups

East Lancashire

The East Lancashire group is one of about 40 groups around the country. We are a friendly bunch who enjoy the social side of the club as well as the walking.

Why not look at our walks programme, see Future Events. We  include short evening walks suitable for all the family in Spring and Summer. Mid-week walks are more relaxed than our weekend walks and do not cover as many miles. Our weekend walks are usually twenty miles in length and are walked at a quicker pace. A twenty mile walk would normally last seven hours and have three stops. All  walks are self-sufficient so if you would like to come along please bring a packed lunch and plenty of fluids. You will be made very welcome but please telephone the walks leader beforehand to confirm the walk is taking place.

Our meetings are  very social affairs and take place at the Pack Horse Inn, Affetside, north of Bolton. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 8.00pm. Why not come along and see if you like us.

The meetings in January, May and September are when we organise the walks programme. These dates are set by the publishing schedule of Strider. All members are welcome to lead walks, in fact the more leaders, the more varied and interesting the walks programme becomes.

The meeting in November also includes the AGM which gives members the chance to have their say as to how the club is run.

I urge all members to try to attend these four meetings.

Your input is valued and important.
