This is the Group’s latest Newsletter and as usual it will also be placed on our web site. Events that have occurred since the last edition are detailed below and reports of each are on the website. The Secretary would be most grateful to receive any contributions for future editions.
Membership has had a welcome boost recently and is currently at 29. A warm welcome is extended to new members Mike Armstrong and Clare Edgar who have joined recently.
The eighth Three Rings of Shap took place on 23rd June and proved to be successful once again despite the best efforts of the weather to spoil things. An inch and a half of rain fell at Wet Sleddale the day before making life interesting with high rivers and spectacular waterfall scenery. There were 124 starters out of 170 entries. 34 completed the full Event with the remainder enjoying one or two Rings.
A date for next year has not yet been finalised but further details will be released as soon as the Committee has had the usual debriefing meeting.
The Away Weekend this year is scheduled for 5-11th September on the Yoredale Way.
There is still an odd spare space so, if interested, please contact Jim Crockett as soon as possible.
Suggestions for a route for 2013 would be welcome either now or at the AGM.
This year’s AGM is planned for Sunday 28th October at the King’s Head, Thirlmere. It will follow the usual format of a meeting and meal following the monthly social walk. More details in due course.
