Newsletter - November 2011

THE HELVELLYN RANGEThis is the Group’s latest Newsletter and as usual it will also be placed on our web site. Events that have occurred since the last edition are detailed below and reports of each are on the website. The Secretary would be most grateful to receive any contributions for future editions.

Membership has had a welcome boost recently and is currently at 27. A warm welcome is extended to new members Margaret McCracken and Shaun Williams who have joined recently.

The recent AGM was a great success with fourteen members attending the meeting and eighteen enjoying the subsequent meal.  There were nine members and four guests on the walk prior to the meeting. This explored Blencathra and its environs with five intrepid bodies braving the slippery slopes of Sharp Edge.

We have now been at Caldbeck for three years and the time may have come to move on. If anyone has any ideas for a future venue then please let Tony know.

The seventh Three Rings of Shap took place on 18th June and proved to be successful once again despite the best efforts of the weather to spoil things. Early heavy rain soon abated and there were 120 starters out of 146 entries. 29 completed the full Event with the remainder enjoying one or two Rings.

The eighth Event will be on 23rd June 2012 so please keep this date free if possible!

Entry forms are available from Tony and online entry is again available.
