Minutes of 12.1.2012 Meeting

Minutes of meeting held on 12th January 2012

27 members present

Chairman: David welcomed a new member to our group, Mike Evans.

He also said how he had missed the Tandem. Typically the weather would have been really good this year.

Secretary: Our group have been asked to write an article about the Tandem for the 40th Anniversary booklet LDWA are producing in November. It was agreed we would do this and members were asked for any photographs and memories of past events.

We had received notification that the Blacks/Millets discount cards would have some restrictions, details could be found on their website. This was probably due to the companies going into administration and a possible buy-out.

Treasurer: The balance was healthy. Carol reported that there were yet more forms to sign following the change of Treasurer.

Walks Secretary: David said his walk on Saturday would be from Slapewath, and probably 15 miles rather than the advertised 18 miles.

Website: Eva had agreed to take on responsibility for our website and was thanked for agreeing to this. She had changed some of the headings and was adding photographs. The email address clevelandlive was not live and should not be used. Vince said this was an account set up by him a few years ago.

Paul was thanked for his work on the website in the past.

Hanging Stone: This will be held on the 4th August and 1 entry had been received.

40th Anniversary Walk: A long discussion was held on this. We had previously identified some possible walks to do – Lyke Wake Walk, Shepherd’s Round, White Rose, Three Peaks. It was felt we should do a walk in our area, thus ruling out Three Peaks. It was also questioned how many people would do a  40 mile walk. We could do this over two days but we should really be looking at something which was achievable by a majority of the members of our group.

It was finally agreed the walk would take place on 22nd September, it would be a circular walk supported by a minibus, concluding with a meal. Secretary to contact various suitable pubs in the area which could accommodate us and we could then devise a route.

It was suggested we could do the Three Peaks in conjunction with a weekend away.

Meeting closed at 9.10pm.
