CLEVELAND STREET & COAST WALK
CLEVELAND STREET AND COAST WALK’S REPORT
Walk: 14 January 2012 Walk Leader : Dave Firth
The walk started at 9 am on Saturday 14 January from Slapewath with 23 walkers of varied ability taking part.
As the weather was a little below zero the paths were firm and frost covered. The day was crisp and sunny and fortunately there was very little wind.
We walked from the start on the Cleveland Street path to Skinningrove stopping off at an old disused mine site where we had our morning break. We then continued on to Skinningrove passing the Tom Leonard Mining Museum. We joined the Cleveland Way and went along the coastal path leading to the old mine fan house on Worsett Hill where we had our lunch break.
After lunch we continued along the coast over Huntcliff to Saltburn then through the Valley Gardens to Skeleton. On the way we stopped for a break at the wild bird viewing station in Saltburn woods.
After passing through Skelton we continued on the Cleveland Way finishing at 3 pm.
