Saturday 10th September, Cleveland Group met at The Lion Inn, Blakey Ridge for our monthly social walk. Once again we had a good turnout from LDWA members both local and visitors, 17 in total. We set off towards Rosedale valley bottom in thick mist with views at a premium, however the day gradually improved with sunny spells throughout the day. Our first break was at Rosedale Abbey were several people used the local café to buy a take-away coffee, we then all sat around the tree on the village green for our break. We continued along the Dale to eventually climb onto the moor at Hollins Farm to reach Hutton-le-Hole, passing Ana Cross along the way, lunch on the village green was followed by a trek through Farndale visiting the Quakers Burial Ground and Low Mill. After a tough climb back to Blakey most of us spend a social hour in the The Lion Inn, what a pleasant way to round off a good days walk. Albert Bowes
