MINUTES OF THE MEETING FOR JANUARY
Minutes of meeting held on 9th December 2010

Chairman: David was unable to attend but reminded us of the meeting on first Thursday in January.
Secretary: Edith confirmed that Air Ambulance had agreed to come and give a talk on 10th March.
A menu was passed round and a list for members to fill in their requirements for Christmas lunch.
Treasurer: Alan confirmed that our finances were in a sound position and he had a bundle of cheques to pay in which were for entries for the Tandem.
Walk Secretary: The walk in November had been led by Albert from Reeth, 19 people out including 3 visitors. He had received a letter from Ann who on the day had not felt too good and shortened the walk, and she wrote thanking members for their consideration.
The scheduled walk on 4th December to be led by Alan was cancelled due to deep snow.
The sponsored walk for the ENT Department at James Cook scheduled for 12th December is also cancelled and will be held in the new year.
Dave needs walks for the next Strider.
Website: Paul had put on Local Groups and Cleveland Minutes. He had also put on the news of cancellation of Alan’s walk. He needs details for Strider walks as soon as possible.
Quartermaster: Tom has serviced the two burners which had been used for the Hanging Stone.
Pat urged us not to rush in and get rid of equipment- it had taken us a long time to get together. Albert said there was quite a bit of equipment in the lock-up which was never used and he was updating the list which we would review in the future.
Tandem: Eva reported that 80 teams had entered to date and we had someone to start the event. Several members confirmed they would be staying in the hall the night before.
Last year we had agreed to allow the grandchild of a member to do the event, on condition he was accompanied. We have had a similar request this year which has been granted.
All the various agencies have been contacted, minibus ordered and drivers arranged to pick up.
In the event of bad weather we agreed to review on 2nd January and call off if necessary.
Air Ambulance: It was pointed out that we had not agreed on the amount to be donated when this was discussed at the last meeting. It was confirmed that we had agreed to make a donation. £500 had been suggested and after much discussion on the matter a vote was taken.
It was agreed to make a donation of £500 to Air Ambulance when they came to give us a talk on 10th March. For 18, against 1, abstention 1.
Alan had done a rough budget for the forthcoming Tandem from which it was clear that the proposed donation to Air Ambulance was likely to be met from this.
Meeting closed at 9.00pm.
