Cleveland

In the north eastern corner of England between North Yorkshire and County Durham lies the lovely former county of Cleveland. It covers the area between the vale of Pickering and the River Tees and boasts a varied landscape from beautiful hills and dales, wonderful coastal areas and a rich industrial history.

The area has its own national trail, The Cleveland way is 109 miles, starting in the picturesque town Helmsley, crossing the North York Moors National Park, before following the Yorkshire coast and finishing in the seaside town of Filey.

Cleveland Nomads

Up until January 2021, Cleveland had a fantastic local ldwa group. They were known for putting together a great walks programme and since the closure of the old group this much maligned area has been somewhat neglected. In 2023 a group of LDWA members decided to try and resurrect the local group. It is our aim to put on a regular programme of walks not only in Cleveland but also taking in other parts of the surrounding Yorkshire region. Details can be found on the Cleveland web page.

For anyone wanting to join us there will always be a warm and friendly welcome.
